Great Wolf Resorts plans Hampshire water park resort
US based water park and hotel operator Great Wolf Resorts is planning a new resort in Basingstoke.
It has submitted plans to turn council owned property into a hotel with more than 500 rooms with an indoor water park and other leisure amenities.
The site is currently the Basingstoke Golf Centre.
Basingstoke and Deane Borough Council has already given tentative approval and will now assess the planning permission request.
The project is seeking to build a 512-bed hotel, an indoor water park complex, restaurants and retail space.
The company’s plans state it would give the area ‘significant economic, social and environmental benefits.’
It would also include meetings facilities, mini-golf, a ropes course, and a gaming arcade.
Great Wolf has a big presence in the US and Canada with 23 indoor water park resorts.
It also has plans to develop resorts in Oxfordshire and Derbyshire.
