Green brings former colleague to join her at Thomas Cook
Thomas Cook chief executive Harriet Green has recruited a fomer colleague to the new position of chief people officer to help her turn the business around.
Sandra Campopiano will join Thomas Cook on September 2 in what is a new role for the tour operator.
Campopiana has been chief people officer at Premier Farnell, Green’s former employer, for six years.
Green said: "I am delighted to welcome Sandra to Thomas Cook. She is a world-class human resources professional, a transformation specialist and strategist who will bring enormous value to our group-wide team.
"Her appointment again highlights the power of our brand and our success in building a superb leadership team."
Green said Campopiano "takes a leading-edge approach to all facets of people development – that means she will be instrumental in helping us build the high-performance culture we have been focused on since I joined the company a year ago."
Campopiano has "deep experience" working in a multi-channel environment, said Green, and developming a "people strategy" to support the transition of business to the web. " As you know, this is one of our key strategic objectives," she added.
Voted HR Director of the Year in 2010 by HR Magazine, Campopiano has worked with major brands in the digital and technology space including Psion (part of Motorola Solutions), Barclays Retail and Online Business.
"I am delighted to be joining Thomas Cook and Harriet Green, for whom I worked for many years at Premier Farnell," she said. "Having watched the transformation of Thomas Cook over the past year, I am looking forward to being part of Harriet’s leadership team as we take Thomas Cook to the next level."
