Green Globe Sponsors US China Green Tech Summit
The US | China Green Tech Summit in Shanghai is set to be an historic event with the highest-level U.S. and Chinese business leaders working on renewable and clean energy.
The green tech initiative is expected to draw an audience of 450-600 participants who will be treated to a once-in-a-lifetime experience, with some of the best hotels, receptions, galas, art, food, grand facilities and information Shanghai has to offer.
It will also be carbon-neutral.
The focus of the two-day event will be on energy efficiency in the short term and carbon-neutral energy sources over the long term.
In order to foster urgently needed cross-Pacific collaboration, investment, and business-to-business or business-to-government deals, the Summit is designed to provide business-critical information, facilitate personal contacts, and identify opportunities for new business development.
Speakers and participants will include Chinese and American CEOs and senior executives, energy experts, investors, technologists from Chinese and American universities, and top-level government leaders. Ample opportunity will be provided to engage investors and cross-border executives, and to discuss emerging technologies that hold significant promise in the clean industrial revolution.
The event is being organized by the business communities of Shanghai and the San Francisco-Silicon Valley Bay Area of California and sponsored by Green Globe Both regions are rapidly emerging as global centers for green tech development and investment.
Specific agenda topics will include:
* Green buildings and advanced materials
* The energy and water nexus
* Impacts of cleantech on the utility industry
* Commercializing clean energy technologies
* Developing solar, wind and biofuels as alternative energy resources
* Venture capital, private equity, and alternative financing strategies
The program will also feature breakout sessions for US-China venture presentations, and sessions that provide practical information on doing business in China’s cleantech sector. Through these exchanges, participants will address:
* The dimensions of the energy challenge in China, the US and globally
* Achievements to date in research, applications, investment, and policy
* The priorities of China’s government agencies and private businesses
* The technological capabilities California offers China
* Market and partnership opportunities China offers California
* Financing vehicles available for new and existing cleatech enterprises
* The scope for cooperation on renewable energy R&D between California and China
* The home-grown companies emerging in China’s cleantech sector
* The technical developments and business models needed to foster improved energy efficiency and adoption of renewable energy technologies
* The new developments expected in the next 5-10 years
NOTE: The US | China Green Tech Summit in Shanghai will be held immediately before the companion US-China Green Energy Conference in Beijing (November 16-18, 2008). Together the two conferences encourage the development of immediate solutions to pressing energy problems and begin long-term collaboration among green tech policymakers, researchers and businesses in the two countries.
