Green guide to ski resorts released
An online environmental guide to more than 200 ski resorts worldwide has been created by the Ski Club of Great Britain.
Designed to provide information about the “eco-friendliness” of ski resorts, the guide includes information on recycling, climate policy, sewage management, traffic reduction, green power use and green building policy.
Production of the Green Resort Guide has been prompted by concerns over climate change including a trend towards rising temperatures and changing showfall patterns.
Ski Club chief executive Caroline Stuart-Taylor said: “By providing skiers and boarders with and environmental guide, we hope to drive up standards by highlighting the resorts that are doing a lot to help preseve the envionment, as well as those that aren’t doing much at all.”
The green database is thre latest stage in the organisation’s Respect the Mountain campaign, launched last winter to raise awareness of environmental issues in ski areas.
The environmental guide can be found at: www.skiclub.co.uk/skiclub/resorts/greenresorts/default.asp
