Green with envy over new hotel?
It’s been called a project that will make hoteliers “green with envy.” Others say it’s a hotel that proves “luxury and sustainability can join forces with unprecedented results.”
“The first in a collection of Green hotels launched by the Terra Resort Group, Hotel Terra will offer the exceptional amenities and services expected from boutique hotels, combined with environmentally sustainable building and operating practices,” says a news release.
Luxury amenities include a rooftop hot tub, and a snowboard retail and ski rental shop. Each of the 72 guest room or suite will be outfitted with Bose surround sound speakers, flat screen televisions, and high-performance touch screen telephones. Guests will be given complementary wireless access.
Green features for the luxury hotel include:
ü One hundred percent natural beds.
ü Heating via an in-floor system to reduce energy waste.
ü The coffee set-up offers fair trade organic brews.
ü One hundred percent recycled “Eco Shake” roof shingles.
ü Low VOC (Volatile Organic Compound) carpets and pads, sealants, paint, and adhesives exclusively used throughout.
ü Energy efficient heating and cooling systems, designed to customize temperature by individual zones, limiting use to specific need.
ü Radiant heating in the flooring of the parking garage, which runs along the entire ground level of the hotel, reducing direct heat loss and minimizing energy use.
An introductory “Green Ski” package starts at $303.
The Jackson Hole property is the first in a planned chain of Terra Resorts, with 12 to 15 new hotels expected in the next seven years.
