Group travel doing well
Group travel is hot and that trend will continue for several reasons, says Michael Gross, the founder of Global Travel International Corporation.
“We’re seeing a boom in all group travel, from a few families to much larger groups,” he said.
General busy individuals and shattering events such as 9-11 have made families want to get together as group, he believes.
Cruise business is also seeing more groups. Mr. Gross recalls a woman celebrating her 60th birthday by buying cruises for about 40 relatives.
Mr Gross started his company while still in college as a hobby but today he has 35,000 agents in 84 countries. The company should add another 10,000 agents in the next year, he said.
“We think we’ve created a new breed of travel agency. We do a great job of empowering agents to combine their personal relationships with our technology,” he said.
The Maitland-based company is just more than a decade old.
