GTA transitions to travel technology company
Travelmole.tv recently caught up with GTA’s vice president of sales and marketing Daryl Lee to talk about the company’s customer base and standing in the Asia Pacific market.
GTA, has had a presence in Asia for over 30 years as a fully integrated, inbound and outbound travel and hotel wholesale operation for FIT and group travel, but Lee says GTA has positioned itself more as a travel technology company.
Asia Pacific has many very distinct local markets, Lee says, and the focus between FIT and group travel varies in different territories.
"The market with the highest FIT proportion is probably South Korea, while major group markets are China, Thailand and Indonesia" he said.
"In places like Hong Kong there has always been a lot of Chinese groups but that is fast changing. The changes have a lot to do with consumer behaviour and visa regulations becoming more relaxed," commented Lee, who said over 50% of business is intra-Asia.
"The changes in visa requirements will drive more FIT business."
