Guests taken ill during outbreak aboard luxury cruise ship
Several guests and crew have been taken ill during an outbreak aboard a Regent Seven Seas Cruises ship.
The US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention says 21 guests and six crew members were taken ill.
The cause of the gastrointestinal illness outbreak remains undetermined, the CDC said.
There were 631 guests aboard the Seven Seas Mariner cruise ship which departed Miami for Honolulu last month.
It arrived in Hawaii this week.
“In an abundance of caution, additional cleaning operations developed in accordance with CDC guidelines, on top of our standard rigorous protocols took place prior to the commencement of the ship’s next voyage,” the cruise line said.
“At Regent Seven Seas Cruises, the health and safety of our guests, crew, and the destinations we visit is our number one priority.”
The cruise line said the ‘small percentage’ of passengers reporting ill had stomach flu-like symptoms.
It is the first cruise ship outbreak of 2026, as defined under the CDC’s reporting procedures.
