Gulf Air scrap flight confirmation
Gulf Air has scrapped its flight reconfirmation policy.
With effect from 15 November, passengers flying with Gulf Air no longer need to reconfirm their flight bookings up to 72 hours before departure.
The carrier hopes the move will mean sales agents will have more time to deal with enquiries instead of processing reconfirmation requests.
The change in policy has come about due to improvements in technology, which are also behind the introduction of SMS messaging. It is designed to keep Gulf Air passengers informed of their travel arrangements via text message or email.
Gulf Air has teamed up with Sabre Holdings Corporation to introduce the service. Passengers can submit their mobile phone number or email address when booking flights and receive real time information regarding delays, gate changes and cancellations.
The service can also provide updates on airports and cities. It will be available within 21 weeks.
