Gunman planning mass shooting killed at Houston airport

A gunman who wrote on social media that he was planning a mass shooting in the US yesterday was himself shot dead at Houston’s largest international airport.

The man, identified as Carnell Moore, fired a pistol at the ceiling inside Terminal B at Bush International, causing passengers to scatter in panic.

A special agent of Homeland Security Investigation ran towards Moore, ordering him to drop the gun, but Moore turned towards the agent who fire, striking Moore in the upper body.

At the same moment, Moore shot himself. He died at the scene.

CBSNews.com reported that inside a black suitcase next to where Moore was sitting, the FBI found a black suitcase containing a Smith & Wesson AR15 assault weapon with a fully loaded magazine.

In Moore’s car, more .223 ammo for the weapon was found.

Earlier in the day, Moore had posted on social media that he intended to commit a mass shooting that day, but a  handwritten note found on Moore’s body said he had changed his mind and wanted to kill himself.

The terminal was closed immediately after the shooting, but later parts of the terminal were reopened to passengers. The rest of the airport remained.

An airport spokeswoman said some passengers who were scheduled to leave from Terminal B were rerouted to other terminals.
