Gunmen escape with millions after armed raid on international airport
Eight masked gunmen carried out a raid at Chile’s international airport in the capital Santiago, escaping with more than $7 million in cash.
They held up guards escorting an armoured truck from US security firm Brink’s, which was to be delivered to banks and mines in northern Chile, according to local newspaper reports.
More than $1.6 million was stolen during a similar armed raid at the same airport in 2006.
