Hard Rock Hotels has identified Europe as a “core focus” for expansion after unveiling a $2 billion war-chest for international development.

The luxury hotel and casino brand recently announced plans for new properties in Macau and Dubai.

Speaking at the International Hotel Investment Forum in Berlin, the company’s chief hotels officer Trevor Horwell outlined ambitious development plans for the brand.

“We’ve succeeded in creating a hotel brand that has a completely unique personality, a vibe that you cannot get anywhere else in the industry,” he said.

“The focus is five-star luxury but the brand adds personality to its properties by making a statement through the wider music and entertainment experience.

“That brand is proven to work in the United States and has been validated by the response to our announcements in Macau and in Dubai.

“Now we are looking to move into the next phase of our development. We’ve got a war-chest of $2 billion to invest in new properties in markets in which the Hard Rock brand will resonate.

“I see particularly strong opportunities in Europe, especially in some of the fast-developing Eastern European economies.”

Horwell added: “As we expand the brand further, you will see us partnering with leading investors in our key markets, ensuring we create stunning properties around the world.”
