Harrex in Tourism Australia return to London
Rodney Harrex is returning to London as new general manager – Europe for Tourism Australia.
He previously spent three and a half years in London responsible for regional trade and partnership development for the UK/Europe. This included initiatives like the Aussie Specialist Programme, partnerships with the trade and airlines.
Harrex, currently Tourism Australia’s general manager international operations, takes up the London-based position from April 18.
He will be responsible for managing operations in the UK and Continental Europe and in particular the Destination Australia partnership with the State and Territory Tourism Organisations.
Tourism Australia managing director Scott Morrison said: “The UK and Europe account for around A$5.5 billion in economic value to Australia annually and this is a figure we would like to continue to grow.
“A key responsibility for Rod will be to drive marketing initiatives and programs for this region as well as managing regional operations in Europe to ensure integration and alignment between Tourism Australia and its State tourism partners.
“Relationships with industry partners in the region are particularly important given the role the industry plays in helping Tourism Australia to achieve increased visitor spend, dispersal and length of stay.
“We believe that Rod has the experience with Tourism Australia and its predecessor the Australian Tourist Commission to ensure strong relationships with our partners so we can deliver on our significant investment in the region.”
