Hawaii battered by storm AND earthquake
Hawaii has been hit by a tropical storm AND an earthquake, leading to flight cancellations.
Tropical storm Flossie dumped six inches of rain on parts of the Big Island yesterday, knocking out power in the Puna area.
Trees were also toppled and some flights were grounded.
An earthquake eight miles off Oah registered 3.5 magnitude, too small to trigger a tsunami.
Alaska Airlines was offering to refund tickets or waive fees to change flights for today and for reticketing by today for flights until August 2.
Flossie is expected to cross Oahu and Kauai today.
Beaches, harbors and three ports were closed, along with trails and campgrounds.
