Hawaii updates entry protocols

Hawaii is easing restrictions for travel for domestic visitors.

There is no longer a requirement to fill out the Health Form prior to arrival.

Previously out of state visitors needed to fill it out 24 hours before departure and would receive a QR code once verified.

US travelers can still visit quarantine-free with proof of vaccination or a negative test.

It also amended isolation and quarantine rules this week to align with CDC guidance.

Mandatory quarantine for unvaccinated travelers is cut from 10 days to five days and isolation is reduced to five days,

"We are adopting the CDC recommendations to blunt the current very rapid spread of the Omicron variant. These guidelines are practical to implement, making it easier for people to do the right thing," said State Epidemiologist Dr. Sarah Kemble.

"There is still much we do not know about transmission dynamics of the Omicron variant. We will continue to follow the science."

However, stricter localized restrictions are being implemented again.

Honolulu Mayor Rick Blangiardi ordered a cut in capacity at large indoor events.

"There’s no magic to this thing and it’s not all that complicated. Make good decisions. Get a booster," Blangiardi said.
