Hawaiian Airlines shutting down Ohana by Hawaiian service
The Covid pandemic has claimed another airline brand. Hawaiian Airlines will retire its ‘Ohana by Hawaiian’ neighbour island and cargo service. Hawaiian made the ‘heartbreaking decision’ to ditch Ohana as it sees no way it can be a sustainable business for the foreseeable future.
There has been a ‘severe decline in neighbor Island travel demand’ the airline says. The pandemic seems to be the ‘final nail in the coffin’ as it has struggled for profitability for some time. Ohana had operated eight ATR aircraft operating passenger and all-cargo flights.
