Hawaiian Airlines taps SpaceX for free in-flight Wi-Fi
Hawaiian Airlines hopes to shake up in-flight with help from SpaceX.
In an industry first Hawaiian will offer Starlink’s wireless internet service for free on continental US and international flights in Asia and Oceania.
Hawaiian’s Airbus A330, A321neo and upcoming Boeing 787s will be equipped for Starlink’s satellite internet connectivity.
“When we launch with Starlink we will have the best connectivity experience available in the air,” said Hawaiian Airlines Chief Executive Peter Ingram.
“Our guests can look forward to fast, seamless and free Wi-Fi.”
The airline says it would be fast enough to support video streaming and gaming.
“We expect the bandwidth and latency to be better than any options currently flying.”
The Starlink service will be free for all and won’t need users to register or login.
SpaceX has more than 2,000 satellites in orbit.
