Hawaiian real estate firm to launch new hotel brand in Japan
Hawaii-based real estate firm Trinity Investments LLC plans to launch several limited-service hotels in collaboration with Japan’s Hotel Okura Co.
Trinity said it will aim to raise about $300 million in equity to fund the new brand which will be named Nikko Style.
The new brand is targeting leisure and business markets and the first hotel is scheduled open in 2020.
Trinity CEO Sean Hehir said they plan to open 20 to 30 Nikko Style hotels across the country, including in Tokyo, Osaka and Fukuoka.
It may then expand to other Asia markets, North America and Europe.
"When we looked at the current hotel offerings, there were a lot at the budget end and also at the full-service end," Hehr said.
"There wasn’t as much activity in the select-service space we’re targeting. There’s still a very wide-open market for select-service in Japan."
