Hawaiian to reinstate longest domestic flight in US
The longest nonstop US domestic flight will resume service in time for the holidays.
Hawaiian Airlines will resume two flights a week from Boston’s Logan International Airport to Honolulu, Hawaii starting 18 December.
It is the longest flight within the US at more than 5,000 miles.
The westbound trip takes more than 11 hours.
Hawaiian Airlines announced it will also restart flights between New York JFK and Honolulu three times a week.
"We’re pleased with increased demand for travel to Hawaii, and excited to once again offer our East Coast guests the convenience of our nonstop flights," said Brent Overbeek, Hawaiian Airlines’ SVP of Revenue Management and Network Planning.
Hawaii reopened for tourism earlier this month, allowing visitors to avoid quarantine with a negative Covid-19 test result.
Hawaiian is also resuming daily flights from Long Beach, California, and bringing back flights linking Lihue and Kahului to several California cities.
