Health-conscious Brisbane hotel invests
An AAP report says that while hotels have always had an eye for health-conscious travellers, providing services such as gyms and spas, one hotel in the heart of Brisbane has gone a step further towards looking after its patrons by investing in a defibrillator.
Royal on the Park general manager Mark Evans said the high-tech first aid kit had been put in place to save lives.
“If we can save a life as easy as ‘1, 2, 3’ then it is important we have such devices on the hotel’s premises for the wellbeing of our valued guests,” Mr Evans said.
The automated external defibrillator (AED) will aid with resuscitation of guests experiencing potentially life threatening heart conditions, which can lead to cardiac arrest.
Suffers of cardiac arrhythmias, or abnormal heartbeats, can be aided by the application of an AED.
The AED’s electrical therapy assists in allowing the heart to return to its normal rhythm, thus stopping the arrhythmia.
Hotel staff have been trained by the Queensland Ambulance Service to correctly administer the AED.
The hotel is one of only a handful in the country to purchase a defibrillator.
