Heathrow asks for ideas on expansion
Heathrow Airport is launching a pitch process for potential commercial development partners to work on expansion plans.
Companies are being invited to register an expression of interest as Heathrow prepares for the next phase of growth
This will start a three-part process that could see them partner with Heathrow Airport.
Ideas will focus on opportunities that improve customer service, drive cost efficiency, grow commercial revenues and deliver sustainability targets.
Interested parties will be told in the next two weeks how they can register their interest and details of the eligibility criteria will be posted online.
After that, shortlisted candidates will be invited to a pitch process with senior Heathrow decision makers.
Heathrow Airport CEO John Holland-Kaye said: "Over the last 10 years, Heathrow has delivered better service at lower cost, while becoming a leader in sustainability. We are now regularly rated as one of the best airports in the world.
"As we prepare the final masterplan, it is a good time to listen to any proposals that can help us to make Heathrow the most successful hub airport in the world, in a way that is sustainable, affordable and financeable."
He added: "We have had a number of people approach us during this year’s public consultation, so we have decided to open up a competitive process that will give those with the best ideas a chance to work with us.
"We are willing to work with anyone who shares our values and who is committed to delivering on the promises we have made on the environment, to our neighbours and to the country."
