Herbert returns to trade with Travel Buddy

Friday, 30 May, 2008 0

Former Comtec-Europe client relationship director Neil Herbert has joined Travel Buddy, the mobile company that provides location based text information.

Herbert has become sales, marketing and distribution director reporting to managing director Adam Winterflood.

He will be responsible securing contracts with tour operators, tourist boards, travel agents and airlines globally.

First Choice, Thomson and Co-operative Travel have signed up to Travel Buddy.

Herbert, who also previously worked for Holiday Taxis and Holiday Extras, said: “We are aiming to roll Travel Buddy out to the rest of the trade.

“We have six or seven different products including a crisis management tool and this enables companies to communicate with their customers quickly by using SMS texts. It is an exciting time to be involved in the mobile technology business.”

The company offers customers opt-in information on subjects such as local weather, events, emergency numbers and travel information related to their destination and time of travel via a text message.

Users signed up to the service can access this information for the period of their trip and it will automatically stop the day they return.
