Hilton latest to update guest room security policy
Hilton is the latest company to revise its ‘Do Not Disturb’ guest policy.
It quietly revamped policy late last year and now requires a staff member to inform security or a manager if a Do Not Disturb sign has been displayed for more than 24 hours.
Previously several days could pass before an employee would enter a guest’s room due to the sign.
All Hilton guests are notified with a communication which reads: "We understand and respect your need for privacy. The hotel reserves the right to visually inspect all guest rooms every 24 hours to ensure the well-being of our guests and confirm the condition of the room. If service is refused for this length of time, a member of hotel management will check on the guest room."
Three Walt Disney World hotels have removed the signs altogether and replaced them with ‘Room Occupied’ signs.
Disney employees are required to enter each room at least once a day to ensure ‘the safety and security of guests and property.’
This policy is being extended to all Disney World resort hotels.
Neither Disney or Hilton acknowledged the Las Vegas mass shooting in October as the reason behind their respective policy changes.
A guest at the Mandalay Bay resort opened fire from a 32nd floor suite on a concert crowd killing more than 50.
