Hilton puts out welcome mat for Chinese guests
Hilton has launched a programme across 51 hotels in 13 countries to welcome Chinese visitors to its hotels.
Hilton Huanying, which means welcome in Chinese, is an attempt by the hotel chain to “meet the cultural expectations and needs†of Chinese business people and tourists.
Chinese Guests who require the programme will be greeted by Mandarin-speaking staff who will be on hand to help with check-in, answer questions and give directions to local attractions.
Hotels will also send staff to learn basic Chinese.
Room facilities will include amenities such as Chinese tea and a Chinese TV channel. Breakfast will include congee, dim sum and noodles.
The moves reflect the initiatives taken to meet and greet Japanese visitors in the 1980s.
