Hitting the gas pedal
Hoteliers worried rising gas prices will discourage travelers have created a new trend of offering free fill-ups.
Even some rental car companies are getting into the act. Budget is offering a free tank of gas with five-day rentals through 27 June.
One example of a hotel chain offering is BedAndBreakfast, where more than 100 inns are offering various gas arrangements that include bonuses and sometimes lower room rates.
Mega-hotel site Hotels.com is offering $30 off gas for booking three-nights minimum on their Web site, an offer good through 15 October.
Among others, Travelodge Canada is offering a $25 gift card for staying six nights at a Canadian Travelodge or Thriftlodge between now and 10 September.
