Hoax bomb threat causes disruption near PortMiami
A bomb threat at PortMiami has been determined to be a hoax, but still caused major disruption throughout Monday.
The Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office said the threat was unfounded but has increased its police presence in the area as a precaution.
Police deputies descended on the area Monday morning but said they found no credible danger.
Port operations remained open but the main disruption came from the closure of the port’s tunnel, which caused traffic disruption.
With traffic backed up, some cruise guests told local media they were worried about missing their cruise departure.
“We’re just sitting here in traffic, drivers going around, everybody’s honking, everybody’s getting crazy,” said cruise passenger Icuis Matthews.
