Hoeseasons ups commission as part of trade push

Friday, 09 May, 2006 0

Hoseasons is upping commission by 1% in May as part of a six-month push to encourage more agency sales.

The self-catering operator also plans to offer rewards to agency staff and teams through competition prizes linked to bookings and knowledge and awareness of the company’s offerings.

The move comes against a background of a second round of commission cuts led by Thomson (see previous TravelMole stories).

Hoseasons claims the initiative is its largest ever travel trade campaign following price matching its own direct sell prices with those available to agents.

Business development director Pali Badwal said: “Over the last few months there has been a lot of negativity within the industry about the role travel agents have to play in future bookings. But the high street is a difficult place for everyone at the moment, not just travel agents, and we have to recognise that agents are still very important for a lot of travel companies – ourselves included.”
