Holidaymakers opting for more flexible breaks

More travellers are opting for different durations of holiday stays beyond the traditional week or 14-nights away.

A study by Turkey accommodation-only specialist Artemis Travel shows that around a third (35%) of holidaymakers are booking ‘odd-length’ stays.

These range anywhere between three and 17 nights at Aegean coast resorts, allowing travellers to shop around for the best flight prices.

The company introduced a flexible stay policy at the start of the year leaving no restrictions on the day of arrival or length of stay.

Chief executive Nigel Harris said: “At the start of the year, 14-night stays were popular, reflecting the fact that there are less available flights to Turkey in low season.

“Our forward bookings have shown a marked variation in length of stay, however, as low cost carriers introduce their summer schedules, allowing customers and travel agents to ‘mix and match’ flights to find the best deals.”

The company features accommodation in resorts situated near Altinkum, one hour from Bodrum and 90 minutes from Izmir airports.

“Traditionally, tour operators have tempted holiday-makers into two-week stays by offering the second week at minimal additional cost to a seven-night break,” added Harris.

“In the current climate, where people are perhaps wary of taking a full fortnight off work, Artemis Travel allows them to choose the exact length of stay without compromising on value.”

Flights to the region will be boosted next month by new services from Easyjet, Pegasus Airlines and Aegean Flights and additional charters from Thomas Cook Airlines, Thomson and Monarch.

Flights are also available from British Airways, Onur Air and Kibris Turkish.
