Holland America buys Alaska resort
Holland America Line is beefing up its Alaska offerings, buying one hotel, renovating three others, and rebranding its packages as Land+Sea Journeys.
The line is acquiring the McKinley Chalets Hotel in Denali National Park, a 42-acre resort with 480 rooms, fine and casual dining, and an on-site dinner theater, on-site raft departures and walking trails on the Nenana River.
Holland-America also will embark on a renovations program at its other Alaska hotels, in Fairbanks, Skagway and Whitehorse, and relaunch its Alaska CruiseTour program under a new name, Land+Sea Journeys.
A dozen trips will be on the agenda, ranging 10 to 20 days and including three- to seven-day cruises.
Also new for 2014 is a one-hour flight to transport guests from Fairbanks, Alaska, to Dawson City, Yukon, and luxury motorcoaches between Denali and Fairbanks.
