Holland America island rated ‘tourism sustainable’
Holland America Line is now offering several new activities from its private island of Half Moon Cay, the cruise line announced.
Enhancements include a horseback riding and swimming excursion, a stingray adventure, a guided personal watercraft tour and a water park.
They augment Half Moon Bay’s other activities that include scuba diving tours, deep sea fishing, ego-tours, parasailing and kayak trips.
Half Moon is part of Holland America’s Caribbean itineraries. The 55-acre island, an international bird sanctuary, has won various awards.
The cruise line worked directly with the Bahamian government to ensure that new facilities were designed to minimize their environmental impact and preserve this island’s natural beauty. Because of that Half Moon Cay is listed with the Bahamian National Trust as a site of environmentally sustainable tourism.
