Hong Kong calls out ‘hasty’ Japan flight ban
The Hong Kong government has slammed the Japan flight ban.
Japan restricted direct flights from Hong Kong to only Tokyo, Osaka and Nagoya, citing surging Covid cases.
Hong Kong is ‘greatly disappointed by the hasty decision during the peak tourist season.’
It wants a ‘reversal of the decision’ before it comes into effect on Friday.
Japan also now requires Covid tests on arrival for passengers from China.
The HK government says the Japan flight ban potentially impacts about 60,000 travellers.
“About 4,000 are tour group travellers. A total of over 150 tour groups involved are affected,” a government official said.
