Hoseasons sees late Easter bookings double
Hoseasons has seen late bookings for the Easter weekend double as more holidaymakers leave it to the last minute.
The holiday parks operator said it has also seen strong increases in year-round demand for selected destinations, with Cornwall, East Anglia and the South Coast increasing by around 20%, compared with the same four-week period in 2011.
“We’ve seen a surge in the last few weeks for popular UK holiday destinations, but have been surprised by the late demand for Easter,” said Pali Badwal, vice president of lodges and parks.
“Last year we saw increased demand for late bookings, especially in the summer months, but to double the number of bookings for the Easter period is remarkable.
“Economic factors obviously have an impact on people’s holiday choices, but as the figures suggest there is still demand for UK breaks, and it’s the timing of the decision making that’s changing.
“Another trend we have seen is the continued popularity of the best known ‘destination brands’ like Newquay, Great Yarmouth and Bournemouth with families returning this Easter to areas they know and trust.”
