Hotel Jen to grow beyond Hong Kong
HONG KONG – Hotel Jen has arrived in Hong Kong’s Western Districts and is likely to be the forerunner of several others in Asia.
The hotel’s owners, Kerry Holdings, aim to take the brand beyond Hong Kong and establish it in major city destinations.
The 280-room hotel – guest rooms feature pale wood, frosted glass and steel, and strikingly white bed linen – has much going for it, not least the attention to the needs of modern day travellers.
Electric wall sockets offer options of round and square pin plugs; there are wi-fi connections, DVD and flatscreen Samsung TV, and a business-like working area where there is great use of available space.
The hotel, previously managed by Accor, has been given a contemporary refurbishment from bottom to top, where the Sky Lounge opens to the public after 8pm, and the pool and gym have harbour views.
There are five Jen Suites (harbour views form the bath tubs) and 10 executive floors with a business lounge on the 28th floor. Rooms have either city, mountain or harbour views – the latter being the most interesting if you have the time to take in the passing armada of boats.
Three rooms cater to disabled guests, and 84 have connecting doors.
The hotel is handily placed for both the Hong Kong Exhibition Centre and AsiaWorld Expo, which has made it an attractive option for corporate travellers. Hotel Jen has a long stay rate of HK$39,000 per month, including breakfast, mini bar and Sky Lounge cocktails.
“We’re close to the highway to the airport, and we’re away from the traffic around Central,†said a hotel spokeswoman.
The hotel is owned by Kerry Holdings, a private investment company. It is a member of the Kuok Group of companies which has diversified businesses throughout the Asia Pacific region, incuding hotel ownership and management. Kerry Holdings is a substantial shareholder of Shangri-La Asia Limited.
