Hotel van Oranje: Beach Hotel Breaks Records
Hotel van Oranje, Autograph Collection is perfectly situated right on the beach in Amsterdam and the lively boulevard of Noordwijk. In its sixth year of Green Globe certification, this beachside hotel in The Netherlands continues to follow sustainability best practices without compromising style or luxury.
As part of its CSR commitment, the annual Spieren voor Spieren Gala was held again at Hotel van Oranje this year. All records were broken and over 1.6 million Euro was proudly raised for this notable charity which conducts valuable research into childhood muscular disease in the Netherlands.
To protect the natural environment, Hotel van Oranje follows stringent measures regarding resource management. To minimize energy consumption, energy usage is regularly monitored and reported throughout the year. In addition, the Beachclub O has a unique insulation system – a geothermal pump that cools the building in the summer and provides warmth in the winter using water from an onsite well.
Water reduction targets are set and water saving strategies have also been implemented, with water from the swimming pool filtered and reused in the whirlpool and plunge pool. Furthermore, the generation of waste is another key area that is regularly monitored. Chlorine and sulphur tanks are fitted with catchment tanks. Any overflow is handled and cleared by van Gansewinkel, a company that specialises in waste management and recycling.
