Hotels.com offers bookings by gift card payment

Thursday, 20 Nov, 2014 0

With the holiday season fast approaching, online travel agent Hotels.com is launching gift cards in the US and Canada available to redeem for hotel stays at over 100,000 listed properties.

The Hotels.com gift card can be purchased as a redeemable e-gift card or plastic card in values starting from $10 and up.

There are no fees applied for either the purchase or redemption of gift cards and no expiration date is imposed.

The company says over 100,000 participating hotels, resorts, and bed and breakfast accommodations worldwide can booked with gift cards through the Hotels.com website in North America.

"Our new gift card is the first of its kind in the travel space for both gift givers and gift recipients, and it will redefine the gift of travel," said Neha Parikh, VP and general manager, Hotels.com North America.

The company claims Americans are expected to spend up to $103.2 billion on gift cards in 2014, and it remains the most requested item during the holiday season.

Gifts cards are well established in the travel industry but are usually limited to specific airlines, hotel chains, and cruise lines.
