Hotels offering discounts for stressed airline passengers
In the wake of American Airlines returning to its normal schedule, some hotels have been offering “special†discounts and other perks for “stressed out passengers.â€
CasaMagna Marriott Puerto Vallarta Resort and Spa, for example, is offering travelers affected by airline delays and cancellations the following:
Free Internet access at the hotel business center, free access to spa wellness areas for some stress relief and a complimentary glass of house wine when dining at one of the hotel’s restaurants. The offer is valid until April 30.
Miami’s Doral Golf Resort & Spa, a Marriott Resort, is also offering stressed airline passengers a 20 percent discount at the Spa at Doral. The offer is available weekdays (Monday through Thursday) now through June 1. Travelers only need to show a copy of flight itinerary with travel dates of April 5 through April 18 and the discount will be applied upon check-in at Spa at Doral.
Other properties offering specials for travelers affected by delayed and cancelled flights include the Marco Island Marriott Beach Resort and the Walt Disney Swan & Dolphin Resort.
More than 3,300 flights were canceled and 360,000 passengers were stranded during five days last week as American conducted wiring inspections and fixes, according to wire service reports.
More delays tied to maintenance failures are expected all spring and summer – especially on American, Northwest and United Airlines.
