Huge support expected for British Lions 2013 tour
Rugby and cricket tour operator, Gullivers Sports Travel, has been appointed as an official travel agent of Lions Rugby Travel for the 2013 British & Irish Lions Tour to Australia.
Alister Strahan, general manager of Gullivers Sports Travel, said, "We have a long history with the British & Irish Lions. This (2013) Test series is all about pride. We were there when the Lions last beat Australia in 1989 and the winning atmosphere was electric."
Some 20,000 supporters followed the Lions tour of New Zealand in 2005 – a similar number is expected for next year’s tour of Australia.
The British & Irish Lions tour kicks off against the Barbarians in Hong Kong on June 1.
From Hong Kong, the Lions with travel to Perth to play Western Force (June 5), then go east to play the Queensland Reds in Brisbane (June 8) and a combined NSW/Queensland Country XI in Newcastle (June 12). The NSW Waratahs will be the Lions’ opponents on June 15 in Sydney.
A game against the ACT Brumbies will follow in Canberra (June 18) before the first Test match against the Wallabies in Brisbane on June 22.
The British and Irish Lions will play Melbourne Rebels on June 25 and stay in Melbourne for the second Test against the Wallabies on June 29.
The final Test against Australia will be played in Sydney on July 6.
