Hurricanes are Causing Cruises to Change Their Course
Hurricane Hanna, currently near the Turks and Caicos Islands where they closed their airport today is on the heels of Gustav. Hanna has been upgraded to hurricane status and is expected to hit mainland of the US. This surge of uncertainty in the weather has greatly affected cruise lines as almost every line many has altered schedules, changed ports and departures.
Norwegian Cruise Line, Royal Caribbean International and nine ships on the Carnival line have been affected. If your departure and/or arrival dates have changed, airlines are loosening up their reservation change policy, act quickly while this leniency is still in effect,
The Norwegian Cruise Lines have made the following changes to their itineraries: the Spirit, which departed New York yesterday, will call in Bermuda instead of the Bahamas. The Sky, which departed Miami today, will call in Cozumel, Mexico, and Key West, Fla. instead of the Bahamas.
And the Royal Caribbean International Cruise Lines have adjusted their schedules as well: the Sovereign and Majesty ships, which departed today from Florida, will skip Coco Cay, the ships’ private resort in the Bahamas. The ships will be calling in Nassau and Key West, Fla. The Mariner and Liberty ships will also be changing their itineraries.
