Hurricanes dampened Florida demand?

Tuesday, 11 Nov, 2004 0

Despite state officials saying its business as usual, Florida could see a “significant” decline in visitors because of the recent hurricanes, says a survey.

One quarter of Americans say they would cancel Florida travel plans because of the hurricanes, said the Manugistics Group Inc., a provider of demand-driven supply chain management solutions.

Their survey also found that one third of American adults said the hurricanes would not affect travel plans, however.

Despite that, the study said up to 3.4 million hotel rooms nights could be cancelled or avoided during the remainder of the year.

What might make visitors change their minds? The study said offering price incentives would be the most compelling action hotels could make to convince American tourists to follow through on plans to visit the state.
