Iberia strike sees flights cancelled
Spanish airline Iberia will see nearly half of its flights cancelled on Wednesday as pilots plan another strike.
A total of 131 flights will be cancelled, including the London to Madrid service, which represents 38% of the flights programmed on 29 February.
This would be the last day of the current walkouts which were scheduled for 13, 17, 20, 24 and 29 February.
British Airways says its services to and from Spain will not be affected and will operate normally as will any flights operated by Air Nostrum.
But those booked on a BA service operated by Iberia, an Iberia prime flight or a BA flight to or from Madrid on 29 February may be eligible for refunds.
The strike is the latest industrial action taken by Iberia pilots in a dispute with parent company International Airlines Group’s over plans to create a new Spanish no-frills airline, Iberia Express by March 2012.
In January, several strikes also took place, causing the cancellation of hundreds of flights.
