Ice hotel freezes out competition
An ice hotel in Quebec, Canada that melts in the spring and features an ice bar and ice chapel was among ten of the world’s quirkiest hotels named by TripAdvisor.
Other North American entries included:
ü The Fantasyland Hotel & Resort in Edmonton, Canada includes an indoor water park, an indoor ice rink, indoor golf and other activities.
ü The Wigwam Hotel in Holbrook, Arizona, offers teepee-style, cement structures with the authentic feel of a 1950s desert town. Rates are only about $45 a night.
ü The Quinta Real Zacatecas in Mexico is built around a 17th century bullfighting ring. With its colonial architecture, it has an “Old Mexico” feel.
ü The Madonna Inn in San Luis Obispo, California, is a garish, chalet-style inn with rock themes. There’s a famous waterfall urinal in the men’s room.
