Iconic Sahara brand returning to Las Vegas Strip

A name siynonymous with Sin City’s storied past is coming back to the Strip.

SLS Las Vegas is getting a rebrand to the iconic Sahara.

SLS owner Alex Meruelo announced the name change during a glitzy launch party.

"We want people who stay with us to say, ‘My God what an experience!’ because experience leads to memories." Meruelo said.

It’s full circle for the property which closed as the Sahara in 2011 and was eventually replaced by SLS Las Vegas.

It had been part of Vegas history for nearly 60 years and was noted as one of the Rat Pack’s favorite hangouts.

Elvis and the Beatles were also guests during its heyday.

The Meruelo Group took over the SLS last year and announced a $150 million renovation project to restore the Sahara brand.

"We can make a big impact here at this iconic location. Our property is just the right size to deliver the bold, yet personalized experiences that made visitors first fall in love with Las Vegas," Meruelo added.
