IHG bringing InterContinental bran to Phuket

InterContinental Hotels Group has signed a management agreement to bring its premium Intercontinental hotel brand to the island of Phuket.
 
IHG will partner with Proud Resort Phuket Co., Ltd to develop the InterContinental Phuket Resort which is slated for a 2019 opening.
 
The hotel will be a key part of luxury residential project MontAzure on the west coast, and will feature villas and hotel rooms with direct beach access, a swimming pool, spa, fitness centre and Kid’s Club.
 
"Phuket has always been an important destination in South East Asia for IHG, with the island’s tourist arrivals recording double-digit year-on-year growth since 2011. We are glad to be able to work with our long-term partner Proud Phuket Resorts Co, on what will be a key resort property for us," said Alan Watts, chief operating officer, AMEA for IHG.
 
The company has 14 Intercontinental hotels open in Southeast Asia, with a further eight expected to open within the next five years.   
 
"Located on Kamala beach, InterContinental Phuket Resort will be one of the most exclusive luxury resorts in Phuket," said Khun Pasu Liptapanlop, executive director of developer Proud Real Estate.
