InterContinental Hotels Group has opened the Holiday Inn Express Kuala Lumpur, marking its Malaysia debut for the brand.

The 383-room hotel is located in the heart of KL’s ‘Golden Triangle’ and is the first of five planned for Malaysia, the company says.

Hotel amenities include a 24-hour fitness room and self-service business centre.

"Holiday Inn Express Kuala Lumpur City Centre is the first of five Holiday Inn Express hotels that we are opening in Malaysia in the coming years and we will be in a great position to cater to the projected 36 million tourist arrivals expected in Malaysia by 2020," said Leanne Harwood, IHG vice president of operations, South East Asia and Korea.

IHG currently operates four hotels in the country, including the InterContinental Kuala Lumpur, Holiday Inn Kuala Lumpur Glenmarie and Holiday Inn Melaka, and has an additional four under development.

"We are delighted to have launched our Holiday Inn Express brand in Malaysia in the heart of the capital where our guests have access to the city’s major landmarks at their doorstep. We are confident Holiday Inn Express Kuala Lumpur City Centre will be a popular choice for both business and leisure guests and we look forward to welcoming them into the hotel," said general manager Jonathan Lai.
