India airlines warned on passenger denied boardings
India air regulator Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) has warned over flight compensation for denied boarding or cancellations and delays.
DGCA says airlines have been indulging in ‘unfair practices by denying boarding even when passengers arrive on time.
‘Strict action’ will be taken against airlines, it said.
A new civil aviation regulation was issued outlining airlines’ responsibility to customers in the event of denied boarding, cancellation or delay.
“For a cancellation less than two weeks before and up to 24 hours before departure, the airline will offer alternative flight or refund the ticket,” the DGCA said.
