India extends ban on scheduled international flights

India extended its ban on scheduled international flights until the end of 2020.

The Indian government extended the months-long suspension through 31 December 2020 as the country continues to record surging Covid infections.

It continues a ban that was due to expire on 30 November.

"This restriction shall not apply to international all-cargo operations and flights specifically approved by the DGCA," the aviation regulator said.

Approved services include the ‘Vande Bharat’ mission repatriation flights and those allowed under agreed travel bubbles.

It has several travel bubble arrangements with countries including the US, Germany, UAE and the UK.

Scheduled international flights have been suspended in India since 23 March.
