Industrial dispute grounds Aerolineas
Aerolineas Argentinas canceled some international flights on Friday due to a strike by pilots and technicians, a company official said.
Employees walked off the job on Thursday to demand wage increases, causing delays and cancellations of domestic and international routes.
Daniel Guiro, a leader of the pilots’ union, said the pilots were asking for a 45 percent increase. “There is no date set for it (the strike) to end. This is going to continue until we find a solution,” he told local radio.
Sydney airport was a scene of drama and tears last night with 250 people stranded after the cancellation of an Aerolineas flight. The airline said it was unable to tell peoiple when they would be able to travel as all forward flights were fully booked.
