Innovative Travel team praises rescue effort
Robyn Galloway, managing director of The Innovative Travel Company, has written to TravelMole to praise the efforts of international rescue teams in quake-shattered Christchurch.
Said Robyn, “The Innovative Travel team whose office is located in the Christchurch CBD, just one block from where the CTV building collapsed are pleased to report that we, our families and office are all fine and we will be commencing operations this week.
“The people of this city are incredibly grateful for the amazing work being undertaken by the international search and rescue specialist teams from Australia, Singapore, Japan, UK and other countries.
“Without their incredible assistance the death toll would be much higher. The local people are really incredible with so many helping their neighbours and strangers who just need a helping hand.
“Tourists who were caught in the earthquake, were well looked after by the civil defence and many volunteers, so that they had somewhere to sleep and had meals given to them while they waited to leave.
“Although Christchurch won’t be ready to greet tourists for sometime again, the rest of New Zealand is open for business. This is very specific to our area.
“Thank you to all our friends overseas who have sent messages of support and who are providing help in so many ways.â€
