Insurance policy texts take off

Friday, 25 Jul, 2005 0

A company offering texts to customers confirming their travel insurance policy claims an early success with the concept.

Insurance broker Blue Insurances has sent 8,500 messages since launching the live policy texting to the mobile phones of customers earlier this month.

The text includes the policy number, emergency assistance number when avbroad and health check declaration number. The text is sent after the agent completes the insurance booking on the company’s website.

Blue Insurances joint managing director Ciaran Mulligan said: “Insured holidyamkers and business people now get a text sent to their phone as soon as they book a travel insurance policy through our network of travel agents and tour operators. This facility is also available for bookings made on agents/operators’ websites.”

The firm is to launch a consumer website, www.annualmultitrip.com in the UK and Ireland later this year, following by Australia and other parts of Europe next year.
