InterContinental leads top ten hotel chains
The North American market saw the strongest growth in the top ten worldwide hotel chains for the last decade, according to a new survey.
InterContinental topped all hotels with its 532,701 rooms and decade growth rate of almost 50%.
It was followed by Dendant, Marriott, Accor, Choice, Hilton, Best Western, Starwood, Carlson and Global Hyatt.
The fastest growing segment of the North American market was budget hotels.
The highest positions in the rankings did not change much in the past ten years, with eight chains still among the top ten, according to MKG Database.
The growth rate of the ten group leaders from 1995 to 2005 was 85% on average.
